It’s Piglet’s Special Needs Saturday!
Our special friend Beaux is known for being one of the happiest cheerful pups around.
But his life wasn’t always such a dream. He is a purebred lab born with a congenital skull deformity. No one wanted to buy him so his backyard breeder gave him to a friend who didn’t really want him either. So Beaux spent his first 5 years as a neglected, outdoor dog.
Fortunately, his new mom’s plan for a new lab puppy fell through just as Beaux’s situation turned critical. When she learned about Beaux, she immediately stepped up to rescue him.
Beaux was adopted 2 years ago. He spent the first month in the vet hospital being treated for malnutrition and then heartworms. He had such severe ear mites that he lost his hearing in one ear. Thankfully, after months of supportive care, he started down a new path of spreading joy, kindness, and happiness. His mom began dressing him in handsome colorful ties to soften his look. But for most, it doesn’t take but a second to recognize just how special this smiling, warmhearted boy is.
Beaux is deaf in his left ear, and has peripheral vision deficits on his right side. Otherwise he is a strong healthy dog. His mom says that it’s impossible to be cranky and grumpy when Beaux is around. Despite all that he suffered, his happiness is contagious! He considers every day as “the best day he’s ever had in his whole entire life”.
Beaux’s rescue family includes 3 other amazing rescues dogs. Riley and Scout were rescued locally and little Meghan (wearing a pink hat), from a Yulin dog meat farm. There are 5 rescued cats in the family as well.
For your own daily dose of Beaux, we encourage you to follow him at @beauxtoxrescues .
We also encourage all of Piggy’s and Beaux’s friends to be sure to use heartworm preventative and consider a special needs pet the next time you’re looking to adopt!
